"an act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Children, Youth and Families"
Bill C-92 Consulting
Kaniikaniit Consulting is passionate about "no more Indigenous children in care!" We assist First Nations in utilizing the Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Children, Youth, and Families (also known as Bill C-92) to exercise jurisdiction, self-determination, and plan for child and family services and programs that will meet the needs of Indigenous families.
Kaniikaniit Consulting founder, Kathy Waddell, has dedicated the past 15 years supporting families and developing child and family services for First Nations. She is currently working with several BC First Nations to expand their child and family services programs, conduct community engagement and consultation, and implement laws (including policy development) that address the crisis of Indigenous children in care, and actively move towards reconciliation, self-determination, and ultimately, the healing of families.
As a Métis person, Kathy understands the effects of inter-generational trauma resulting from colonization, residential schools, and the current government child and family services laws which continue to discriminate against Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
